PlowGirl Farm practices sustainable agriculture on several acres just west of Chapel Hill. Using organic production methods we cultivate a wide range of produce including many heirloom varieties and niche crops such as culinary ginger and shiitake mushrooms. We share the land with rescued animals and are passionate about responsible stewardship of the earth. Dingo Dog Brewing Company, a non-profit supporting companion animal rescue, operates in our barn. Part of our zero-waste facility includes using “ugly" produce for brewing and spent grain for fertilizer. Our goal is to always work with nature, not against it, so you can feel good about putting our food on your table.

About the PlowGirl
I’ve been playing in the dirt for as long as I can remember. Nothing makes me happier than nurturing young plants and toting baskets full of fresh produce out of the field. I’ve grown and sold vegetables off and on for many years and in the fall of 2005 I was able to purchase land that I share with five rescued and very happy goats as well as foster dogs and cats. Animal rescue and education is high on my list of priorities, as is growing healthy produce that’s reasonably priced and raised in a responsible, sustainable manner.
When I’m on my old ‘58 John Deere, I’m on top of the world! Here’s to playing in the dirt, living out your dreams and eating well along the way.
